This was Ozzy's first visit to my town since he left Black Sabbath. That last Sabbath show in 1978 was not a good one. Ozzy struggled with the lyrics and the Sabbath set was completely over shadowed by the amazing performance from their opening band, Van Halen.
This time, Ozzy came with a renewed energy and enthusiasm. He was following up on his successful solo debut "Blizzard of Oz" with a new tour and a new album, "Diary of a Madman". Ozzy looked like he was having fun again with his amazing new guitar player Randy Rhoads. The voice sounded good and rested and we came away excited for the future of this band. Unfortunately, Randy would die just weeks after this show and Ozzy would go through many guitar players in the years to come. He would never visit our city again.
